Legal hub
Welcome to Stewardvine's legal center. The documents below are draft templates — working scaffolds that describe how Stewardvine intends to operate as a software provider to U.S. Catholic parishes and dioceses. They are published here for internal review and prospect due-diligence, and they are not yet final, attorney-approved, or binding. Each document must be reviewed and finalized by licensed counsel (and, for tax-related items, a CPA) in the relevant U.S. state(s) before Stewardvine relies on it or asks a parish to accept it.
One fact runs through all of these documents: Stewardvine sells software only. Donations are processed by Square and settle directly and in full into the parish's own Square account — the parish is the merchant of record. Stewardvine never accepts, holds, escrows, or transmits donor funds, and Stewardvine's software service fee is billed separately and is never deducted from a gift.
How the money flows, and who Stewardvine is not. The parish is the merchant of record; Square processes and settles funds directly to the parish's own Square account; Stewardvine never takes custody of donor funds. Stewardvine is an independent software company and is not endorsed by, sponsored by, or affiliated with Square (Block, Inc.) or Apple. “Tap to Pay on iPhone” is a service provided by Apple. This page is informational and is not tax or legal advice — consult your diocese and your own advisors.
